This soil moisture meter is a handheld analog tester for checking how wet the soil is around houseplants, potted plants and garden beds. Push the metal probe about 3 inches into the soil, which is half the probe length, then read the needle on the round dial. The dial runs from 1 to 10 with Dry, Moist and Wet marked, and the photos show the readings for less moisture (1-3), suitable moisture (4-7) and more moisture (8-10).
